Treasury outlay line

Interest Received by Trust Funds

Interest credited to federal trust funds, usually an offset.

What this means

Federal trust funds earn interest on their Treasury securities. In consolidated budget presentations that interest is often an intragovernmental offset, which can appear as a large negative outlay line rather than new money paid to the public.

Related

  • Net interest

Interest the government pays on its debt, minus interest it earns.

  • Interest on Treasury Debt Securities (Gross)

Gross interest paid on Treasury securities before some offsets.
